SKI SCHOLARS
FROM STUDENT SKIING INSTRUCTORS
FOR STUDENTS
WELCOME TO SKI SCHOLARS
Ski Scholars is a platform designed to bring together a group of certified students and adult ski/snowboard instructors (minimum CSIA Level 1 certificate holder or equivalent) to offer quality ski lessons at affordable prices to students of all ages.
The idea to start Ski Scholars was driven by the desire to help student and adult ski/snowboard instructors who can't work full-time in ski resorts or ski schools, and who want to offer coaching services but are impeded by high insurance cost. Ski Scholars will also help ski lovers who want to learn but feel that ski/snowboard lessons are too expensive. Ski Scholars will offer low cost or free lessons to those who are financially challenged.
This platform allows ski instructors to create profiles and publish their availabilities for coaching. It also enables students to register, select instructors based on their profiles and availability, and complete lesson bookings and payments. A waiver is required for completing any lesson bookings. Additionally, this platform allows easy lesson rescheduling or cancellation, and reviews.
This web platform is built on WIX, which is recognized as one of the best website hosting options with enterprise-grade security control. Instructors and students can trust that their information and transactions on this platform will be safe and secure.

Booking and Registration
-
How do I book a lesson?
You can book online through our website, under the "Book Now" tab on the homepage. -
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations made at least 24 hours in advance by students are eligible for a full refund or rescheduling. Cancellations made by instructors will trigger full refund to students. When there is dispute between students and instructors and needs Ski Scholars to step in, Ski Scholars will treat students' interest first, instructors' second, and Ski Scholars' third. -
Can I change my lesson time after booking?
Yes, changes are allowed up to 24 hours before the lesson, subject to availability. If things happen and you have to change your lesson within 24 hours before the lesson, please communicate with your instructor --- if your instructor agrees then you can make the change (including cancellation) without any penalty; if your instructor does not agree then you can't change your booked lesson and can't get a refund. Having said that, our instructors are reasonable and understand that sometimes things can happen. If you have valid reasons to change your lesson within 24 hours before the lesson starts, please do contact your instructor and chances are your instructor will agree to it. -
What if the weather conditions change to not safe for lesson after I book?
In the event of extreme weather, lessons will be rescheduled or cancelled based on your preference. Your instructor will notify you as soon as possible. If you want to cancel the lesson, you will get full refund.

Dress in layers with waterproof, windproof, breathable, and warm outerwear and gloves, and goggles. A helmet is mandatory for all students under age 18, but is highly recommended for older skiers. -
Can I bring my own equipment?
Absolutely, but please ensure your gear is in good condition and properly fitted.
Mandatory Waiver
-
Do I need to sign a waiver?
Yes, all participants must sign a liability waiver (click on the text to view the waiver template) before finalizing the booking of any lesson. When you book online, you will be directed to the waiver page to sign and submit, and then you can proceed to the payment page. -
What if I do not sign a waiver or my signed waiver is incomplete?
A complete waiver is mandatory. In the case where a lesson is booked but the client's waiver is missing or incomplete, the lesson will be cancelled and the client will get the full refund. -
Do I only sign the waiver once for my future bookings or do I need to sign the waiver each time when I book a lesson?
The waiver needs to be signed each time when you book a lesson. Our booking system is designed to follow this procedure, with waiver signature step embedded before payment step.

How long are the lessons?
Normally private and group lessons are 2 hours long. Private lessons can be flexible; please feel free to discuss with your instructor. -

The listed lesson prices are tax included; once you reach the payment page you will see the total payment amount will be the same as listed lesson price. -
What skills will I learn as a beginner?
You will learn basic skiing techniques such as stopping, turning, and navigating gentle slopes. -

Currently we do not have any Level 3 or 4 instructors so we do not offer lessons for advanced skiers but we are trying to recruit high level instructors and once we have, we will update our website.
SAFETY
At our ski school, safety is our top priority. Whether you're a beginner taking your first steps on the snow or an experienced skier looking to refine your technique, we ensure that every lesson is built on a foundation of safe practices. Our certified instructors are trained not only in skiing and snowboarding techniques but also in risk management. We maintain small group sizes to provide personalized attention, follow all resort safety guidelines, and adapt our instruction to match weather and slope conditions. Because when you feel safe, you can focus on what really matters—learning, improving, and having fun on the mountain. Take a look at Ski Scholars' Safety & Risk Management Plan for more details (click the link to download the Plan in PDF).

What if the weather conditions are not safe?
In the event of extreme weather, lessons will be rescheduled or refunded based on your preference. We will notify you as soon as possible.
Because skiing inherently involves risks such as falls, collisions, and changing weather conditions, a waiver will be mandatory for all lesson participants, which helps protect the ski school by ensuring participants acknowledge these risks. It also clarifies expectations, reinforces safety measures, and serves as a transparent agreement between the ski school and its participants, promoting a safer and more accountable coaching environment.
Ski Scholar maintains comprehensive insurance coverage to ensure the highest standards of safety and accountability. We are fully protected under a Commercial General Liability (CGL) insurance policy with a coverage limit of $10 million, providing broad protection for participants and instructors in the event of unforeseen incidents. This coverage underscores our commitment to risk management and the well-being of everyone involved in our programs.
